Wedding Planning Tips and Tricks

by Lauren J Sharkey

There’s a lot to get done when it comes to wedding planning.  At times it can be overwhelming, but we’ve put together some tips and tricks that will (hopefully) make things a bit easier for you.

1. Set up a wedding e-mail account

Creating an account just for wedding-related tasks will keep everything in one place, and won’t clutter your existing inbox.  Use your wedding account to communicate with vendors, sign up for newsletters, etc.  Sure, checking multiple accounts might take some getting used to, but it’ll be worth it in the end!

2. Sign up for a e-newsletters

Signing up for e-newsletters is a great way to get updates about sales, promotions, coupons, and special offers.  Newsletters you may want to sign up for are:

  • Hotels
  • Wedding Salons
  • Entertainment Vendors
  • Etsy

3. Invest in a Custom Address Stamp

This will save time, energy, and the pain that comes from constantly writing your name and address in the upper left-hand corner.

4. Check the marriage license requirements in your state

One of the best things about getting married is actually getting married.  Make sure all your ducks are in a row so that you can officially tie the knot!

5.  Accept Help

Often, we like to think we can do everything on our own but the truth is everyone needs help now and again.  A great trick is to keep a running to-do list, this way when someone asks if they can lend a hand, you can refer to it and check something off  your list.

Another awesome tip would be to organize your to-do list.  Certain things you’ll want to do yourself, but you can have a separate list of things that anyone can do (getting stamps, confirming appointments, etc.).

6. Google Drive is everything

They key to getting through planning a wedding without losing your mind is organization.  Google Drive has a whole arsenal of apps that can help you stay on track.

Google Docs:  Great for running to-do lists.
Google Sheets:  Amazing for creating spreadsheets to track guests, gifts, and your registry.
Google Calendar:  Lets you know where you’re headed when.  Additionally, you can invite other people to your events which makes coordinating with bridesmaids a breeze!

We hope you find these tips and  tricks helpful, and wish you luck with planning your wedding!
